In light of the coronavirus pandemic, many states and municpalities have deemed the church unnecessary. How did this happen? Why did this happen? The answer is simple and twofold. We have lost our vision and are not being “salt and light” to a hurting and dying world. Therefore, the church has not been doing the good works we were called to in our salvation. This book is a challenge to the church of God to dare to have dreams and visions so we can be the “salt and light” needed in the world today.
Starting with an analysis of the close relation of Trinity and revelation in Barth, Jüngel goes on to look at Barth's action of divine objectivity in relation to human subjectivity. He closes with a discussion of the ontological implications of God's self-manifestation at the Cross. This translation of Jüngel's Gottes Sein ist in Werden also incorporates material from the 1975 German edition, together with a substantial new introduction by Professor John Webster.

Do we have to conceive of ourselves as isolated individuals, inevitably distanced from other people and from whatever we might mean when we use the word "God"? On Becoming God offers an innovative approach to the history of the modern Western self by looking at human identity as something people do together rather than on their own, as a way of managing and keeping at bay the impulses and experiences associated with the word "God." The "self" is a way of doing things, or of not doing things, with "God." The book draws on phenomenology (Heidegger), gender studies (Beauvoir, Butler), and contemporary neuroscience. It surveys existing approaches to modern selfhood (Foucault, Charles Taylor) and proposes an alternative account by investigating late medieval mysticism, in particular texts written in Germany by Meister Eckhart and others. It concludes by exploring the parallel between late medieval confessors and their spiritual charges, and late-nineteenth-century psychoanalysts and their patients, in search of a vocabulary for acknowledging and nurturing our everyday commitments to others and to our spiritual longings.
'Becoming Children of God' offers a fresh and original commentary on the Gospel of John as a narrative inviting readers -- both in the evangelist's time and our own -- to a radical commitment to follow Jesus from within a spirit-filled community. This reading is grounded in a "poetics of biblical narrative" that balances attention to historical, ideological, and aesthetic aspects of John's Gospel while highlighting its relevance for today. By committing himself to a close analysis of the text as "symbolic action" Howard-Brook makes it clear how John's Gospel fairly bristles with references to societal conditions that demand a direct response. Throughout the commentary, his close attention to literary structure as well as social background yields new insights into the often-obscure message of the Fourth Gospel.

The gospel of the water and the Spirit is God's righteousness! The words in this book will satisfy the thirst in your heart. Today's Christians continue to live while not knowing the true solution to the actual sins that they are committing daily. Do you know what God's righteousness is? I hope that you will ask yourself this question and believe in God's righteousness, which is revealed in this book. God's righteousness has been with the gospel of the water and the Spirit. However, like a precious treasure, it has been kept hidden from the eyes of religious followers for a long time. As a result, many people came to rely on and boast of their own righteousness instead of believing in God's righteousness. Therefore, Christian doctrines that don't even make sense came to be dominant beliefs in the hearts of believers, as if these doctrines contained God's righteousness. The Doctrines of Predestination, Justification, and Incremental Sanctification are the major Christian doctrines, which brought confusion and emptiness into the souls of believers. But now, many Christians should newly come to know God, learn about His righteousness and continue in the assured faith. "Our Lord who becomes the righteousness of God" will provide your soul with a great understanding and lead it to peace. The author wants you to possess the blessing of knowing God's righteousness. May God's blessing be with you!
